Frequently Asked Questions

The Practice of Palmistry & Tarot

  • Palmistry, also known as hand analysis or chiromancy, is the practice of reading the hands to understand patterns of character, temperament and life experience. By looking at the structure, lines, prints and other elements of the hand, a palm reader can identify various aspects of the person, and how these features change over time.

It is an ancient path to self-knowledge, as well as a diagnostic and psychological system.

  • Many people ask if palmistry is fatalistic. My approach is that palm lines indicate tendencies and trajectories, and you can respond intelligently if you understand how your actions influence your life and luck. As your habits and circumstances change, your hands change too, and the hands record the changes.

A professional palm reading highlights likely directions and turning points, empowering you to change your future rather than claiming it is predetermined.

Put another way, you don’t need to be psychic to know that if you eat junk food every day and do no exercise you may suffer from ill health. Do nutritionalists predict the future?

  • Just the structure of the hand and the way that tissues are formed gives insight into many areas of your physiology and endocrine function, and there are many layers beyond that. In thousands of years of observation, palmists have developed systems for interpreting the nature of a person that can be surprisingly accurate.

The accuracy, however, depends on the reader doing the work. Please see the feedback from former clients for their perspectives.

  • A reading provides insight into several areas:

    • Your temperament and natural character.

    • How you respond to stress or major life changes.

    • Recurring patterns in relationships or your career path.

    • Strengths to build on and habits to be aware of.

Have a look at the videos page for explanations of what hand reading can tell you.

    • Note: Though the greatest medics of history were palmists, I cannot offer guidance for medical or legal diagnoses.

Online Readings & Practicalities

  • Yes, online palm readings are highly effective. By using clear, high-resolution photographs of both hands, I can analyze the structural features and lines just as I would in person. This allows for detailed spiritual guidance regardless of your location.

That said, I need good photos. Please follow the instructions here carefully.

  • To get the best results, you will need to send:

    1. Clear, well-lit photos.

    2. Images of both hands, including fingers, lines, prints, backs of the hands, nails etc.

Please follow the instructions here carefully.

  • Standard sessions are usually 60 or 90 minutes. A longer session allows us to dive deeper into your hand's patterns or include a tarot pull for added clarity on the present moment.

    Details here.

  • It is a lot of information, and it is specific and detailed.

A recording will be provided so you can revisit the session as often as you like.

If we do any hypnosis, I will record a separate hypnosis track so you can listen to that too.

How I Work: Palmistry, Tarot & Reflection

  • While palmistry analyzes the "living map" of your hands to understand long-term biography, tarot uses symbolic imagery to focus on your immediate circumstances. I often use them as complementary tools: palmistry provides the foundation of who you are, while tarot offers clarity on the specific timing or energy of your current situation.

  • Hypnosis is a safe and relaxing way to extend your conscious mind into processes that are usually unconscious. Trance is a comfortable state where the client is responsive, but they also have access to their timeline, characters from their past and their imaginal realms, and “the control panel of the mind”.

I am trained as a hypnotherpist, and have been practicing for 15 years. Please see my hypnotherapy site for more details: www.tranceformhypno.com

  • The session is a reflective process centered on finding meaning and inner resources. My approach is inclusive and non-dogmatic; it doesn’t require a specific belief system, but rather an openness to exploring patterns and personal growth.

Some people have commented that I can be a little direct. I believe that a reading should give you things to work on, and present new approaches to whatever questions you bring to the session.

  • Absolutely. Many clients find that the symbolic language of tarot and the character analysis of palmistry act as a powerful "bridge" to the work they do in therapy or coaching. These sessions offer a different lens through which to view your behavioural patterns and stress responses.

Very occasionally, people do palm readings with me and then become hypnotherapy clients. I usually recommend a therapy school (CCPE) for people when I think that psychoanalysis can help, but if I am confident that my own therapeutic approach is appropriate, I sometimes accept new clients from readings.
